Starbucks Workers United
I created captivating graphics for SBWU social media to spread information to thousands of followers.
This graphic iconizes the striking workers and fuels the momentum of the union movement. I used Starbucks’ signature green paired with a striking red to create visual tension and make a bold statement. Rough paper textures and a washed photo treatment add grit and humanity, which reflects the lived reality of the workers behind the movement.
Tactile materials introduce grit and resistance into the composition. The recurring neon green ties the work directly to the strike. Strike captains wear neon hats in that color on the picket line. The green-washed imagery functions as a visual metaphor for monetary greed and adds a discomfort to the images.
This post adopts a familiar corporate aesthetic, and uses barista imagery and a small bill to soften the act of donating. The reintroduction of raw materials pushes back against that polished corporate feel to incorporate the aesthetic of posts next to each other.
